Whatsapp Extended Time to Delete Messages

WhatsApp now lets you delete a message for 2 days and up to 12 hours (60 hours in total), so you can delete an accidentally sent conversation even hours later. For those who don’t know, previously this limit consisted of 1 hour, 8 minutes and 16 seconds .

Although the tweet about this feature, which the company announced that the feature is coming to the application, “a little more than 2 days” was mentioned, the 12-hour part was not specified.

WhatsApp first introduced the undelivered message feature in 2017 with a time limit of just 7 minutes, but later increased that time to 1 hour and 8 minutes. Last year, WABetaInfo stated that the company may consider introducing a 7-day limit, but with this new update, it has chosen a rather odd 2.5-day timeframe.

Things are different in Telegram and Apple

By comparison, rival chat app Telegram doesn’t have a time limit on deleting a message , so you can remove a chat years after you send it.

Apple , on the other hand, acts differently in this regard. After introducing the undo sent feature for iOS 16 at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June, the company increased the limit from 15 minutes to 2 minutes in the fourth version of the iOS 16 developer beta last month.
