Users with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch will soon start seeing more ads when they enter the App Store . Ads already appeared on Apple’s App Store, but only in the Search section of the app. They’re also pretty easy to spot, as there’s a blue shadow on the back of the listing and a small blue badge that says “advertisement.”
However, according to 9to5Mac, Apple now plans to bring more ads to the App Store and place them in the Today section as well as on individual app pages. The Today tab, which Apple launched as part of iOS 11 in 2017, has a wide variety of apps whose content is refreshed daily. The new ad slot, coming soon to the Today section, will reportedly appear in the second space at the bottom of the page, again marked with a blue ad badge. The other ad slot will appear at the bottom of an app list.
Developers Can’t Choose Where Ads Are Used
As mentioned, the new space will allow other developers to use their products alongside similar apps, but they won’t be able to choose which specific app their ads appear next to . Instead, Apple’s algorithms will do the job and match apps with ads with similar software.
New ad placements for Apple mean even more revenue for one of the world’s most successful companies, while developers large and small will be able to advertise in hopes of getting more downloads .
While Apple declined to say exactly when the new ads will start appearing, it will reportedly start appearing in the App Store in the near future, initially as a test
