Samsung has announced the ISOCELL HP1 200-megapixel camera sensor , which is expected to launch with the Moto X30 Pro smartphonein a few daysThe South Korean giant has another 200-megapixel camera in the form of the ISOCELL HP3.

Now, a new report from GalaxyClub reveals that Samsung has filed a trademark application for “Hexa²Pixel” . There are hints that the company may be working on a 450 -megapixel camera sensor .

The Samsung ISOCELL HP1 200 megapixel camera sensor and ISOCELL HP3 sensors use the “Tetra²pixel RGB Bayer Model” which uses 16:1 Pixel grouping (4 frames equals 16). Therefore, the “Hexa²Pixel” trademark indicates that Samsungis working on a camera sensor with a 36:1 pixel binning ratio

Samsung’s camera sensors feature post-binning images in the 12-megapixel to 12.5-megapixel range, and based on that, we conclude that the South Korean giant is working on a new 450MP camera sensor from 432 megapixels to 12.5 megapixels .

While the company has filed for the trademark for its 4 50-megapixel camera sensor , it won’t be out anytime soon. The camera sensor is likely to be in the early stages of development and could take several months to market. Apart from that, Samsung is also planning to launch camera sensors with a resolution of  600 megapixels in 1/0.57 inch optical format.
