Ubisoft is said to be working on a scrapped The Division battle royale project to fill the void created by the cancellation of Hyper Scape.

The Division players have been wondering for years if Ubisoft will make a battle royale work into the series. In 2017, Ubisoft even published a survey on whether The Division players wanted battle royale. Rumors that have been circulating since then seem to be resurfacing after the void created by the canceled Hyper Scape.

The Division Battle Royale game may be in development since 2018

However, a new rumor that suggests a standalone The Division battle royale game may be back in development is changing that. As reported on the Game Mess podcast by Jeff Grubb, Ubisoft will relaunch The Division battle royale project, which was previously in development for some time. We have included the relevant podcast below.

The game is codenamed Reaper within Ubisoft and may be in development since 2018. So the new The Division battle royale game project isn’t built from scratch. Battle royale fans from The Division players might be happy with the rumors at this point, but they should also wait skeptically. Ubisoft seems to be going through a different process right now.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which we reported on, is being delayed and all four Ubisoft projects reported to be canceled. It’s unclear whether The Division battle royale is affected or even exists. This is just a rumor and even if the game is in development, it may take some time to be announced.
