It has been announced that PSVR 2 , PlayStation ‘s next-generation VR headset, will arrive in early 2023 . According to multiple PlayStation social media accounts on Twitter and Instagram, the next-generation PlayStation VR headset will be available to players in the first months of next year.
This given release period has been confirmed by PlayStation’s official Instagram account, as well as multiple PlayStation regional Twitter accounts from France and Brazil.
PSVR 2 will be Sony ‘s next generation virtual reality headset. According to Sony, the PSVR 2 will feature an OLED display with 2000×2040 pixels per eye and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz . It will use inside-out eye tracking and will provide a 110-degree field of view.
Sony to Offer Many Exclusive Games at PSVR 2 Release
Sony also announced that PSVR 2 will have more than 20 games at launch . The company is also developing custom VR games for this next-gen title, including Horizon: Call of the Mountain , based on the popular Horizon series .
While PSVR 2’s specs can compete with those of Oculus Quest 2 and Valve Index, it’s a wired title and requires a PlayStation 5 to work . These factors make it difficult to predict how big a place Sony will occupy in this industry, even though they received a price hike earlier this year compared to the wireless Meta earbuds.
