9to5Mac recently  reported that Apple is developing two new versions of the Mac mini . One will be supported by the new M2 processor as expected, while the other will be supported by the M2 Pro. The new Mac mini, codenamed J473, will be powered by the M2 processor The M2 Pro Max mini, on the other hand, will be coded J474 and will have eight performance cores and four efficient core processors.

9to5Mac sources also believe that Apple has no plans to release a version for the Mac mini with M2 Max or Ultra processors, and these versions will likely be used for the Mac Pro.

About the different M2 processors, Gurman thinks the Mac Studio may be a short-lived product because “having both the Mac Studio and the Mac Pro” doesn’t seem to make much sense.
