An analyst posted a stunning leak on China’s Weibo social media site . According to Digital Chat Station, which was among the first to announce the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 name of Qualcomm’s current top-of-the-line Application Processor (AP), Foxconn is in the process of producing two new Pixel phones, but these two phones are not Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro as you might expect. .
Allegedly, one of the models made in China is the first foldable Pixel , which can be called Pixel Fold or Pixel Notepad . The secret code recently discovered in the Google Camera 8.6 app was revealed to have the Pixel Fold/Notepad icon with an arrow showing how to turn off the device. Powered by Google’s own Tensor processor, the foldable device will reportedly be equipped with a 5.85 -inch display that makes it closer than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, with a much larger 7.6-inch internal screen in the device’s design than the foldable Oppo Find N.
What’s Known About the Foldable Pixel Phone’s Camera
The camera unit on the Pixel Fold/Notepad is expected to be the same as the 12.2MP main camera and 16MP ultra-wide camera used in the Pixel 5 flagship released in 2020 . The other phone that Foxconn is allegedly working on is a new flagship that could be known as the Pixel 7 Ultra, which will feature a Sony IMX787 sensor. This sensor is not one of the four sensors expected to be used in the Pixel 7 series. The IMX787 is used in conjunction with a “bottom camera” , although what this means is not yet clear .
You might think that means the sensor will use a periscope-based telephoto camera. The Pixel 6 Pro had one after all, but Digital Chat Station says the Pixel 7 Ultra’s telephoto camera will use a 50MP sensor made by Samsung, ISOCELL GN1. This is the same sensor we should expect on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.
That’s all we know about the new Pixels for now. It is a real curiosity how the Pixel foldable phone will be, but if it goes into production, it is likely that we will have more information in the coming period.
