It is clearly Black Panther time . After the exciting trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever shown a few days ago at the Comic-Con in San Diego, here is the Marvel superhero is being talked about even for a whole new video game.

Journalist Jeff Grubb reported today that Electronic Arts is working on a new video game dedicated to the character, developed by a new studio founded by the former head of Monolith, who made Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War.

According to Grubb, it will be a single-player open-world game and sort of a superhero origin story . From the first details learned, the game will take place after the death of the previous Black Panther, so players face the challenge of becoming the new iconic superhero of Wakanda.

The project is still in the early stages of development, so it won’t arrive anytime soon, and certainly not concurrently with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever , in cinemas from November.

In the MCU films, T’Challa, played by the late Chadwick Boseman, took on the role of Black Panther and protector of Wakanda following the death of his father, King T’Chaka, in Captain America: Civil War .

It’s unclear whether the game will follow T’Challa or another Black Panther who will take the role later , but Grubb and his host Mike Williams have speculated that it might involve an original player-created character.

The new game was codenamed Project Ranier , and is in development at EA. Grubb said this is likely the debut project from a Seattle studio founded by former vice president of Monolith Productions and studio head Kevin Stephens. Under Stephens, Monolith made The Lord of the Rings Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel, Shadow of War.

The report, we recall, comes a few days after the SDCC, during which Marvel Studios unveiled Phases 5 and 6 of the MCU , as well as officially announcing Avengers: The Kang Dynast y and Avengers: Secret Wars .
