The tweet also included that the team intends to expand the in-game Avatar Store in both old and new voices. Whether this means that the famous “oof” sound effect may one day return to the game is unknown. However, fans of the game are definitely not happy with this change.

According to a report from Kotaku, the famous “oof” sound effect did not belong to the developers of Roblox. Instead, it was created by someone known as Tommy Tallarico. Both Roblox and Tallarico have reportedly reached an agreement where anyone creating a Roblox experience will have to pay 100 Robux to use the “oof” death sound.

It is not known exactly what the agreement between the two parties is because Roblox has now officially removed the sound from the game.

In a livestream by Roblox developers, they said they will soon add “the ability to add audio by purchasing licenses directly from creators and licensors.” Users will also be able to customize sounds for their avatars, just as they customize clothing.
