BMW is recalling 83 iX and i4 vehicles after investigating multiple battery fire incidents involving two EVs . The incident, spotted by Autoblog, is the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s warning to owners of certain iX xDrive 50, iX M60, i4 eDrive40 and i4 M50 vehicles not to drive, charge or park in tight spaces.

After investigating an incident involving the 2022 i4 eDrive in April, BMW found a manufacturing defect in the Samsung SDI battery cells of iX models manufactured between December 2, 2021 and June 30, 2022 and i4 models manufactured between November 22, 2021 and June 13, 2022 .
