According to Bloomberg, Apple does not expect a drop in iPhone sales in 2022 amid the overall slowdown in the smartphone market. The Cupertino-based company expects continued strong demand for the iPhone and is asking its suppliers to make 90 million iPhone 14 models. This equates to iPhone 13 production in the same period last year.
Apple expects to produce a total of 220 million iPhones in 2022 , in parallel with production in 2021 . Sources speaking to Bloomberg said that Apple has been able to weather the downturn in the smartphone market as the Apple customer base is still willing to spend money on premium devices.
iPhone 14 Production May Increase Over the Year
It was seen that Apple produced about 75 million devices in new “iPhone” launches before 2021 . It rose to 90 million in 2021 as the company expects high demand for the iPhone 13 models and Apple is sticking to that target level for 2022.
While a few changes are expected for the standard iPhone 14 models, the high-end iPhone 14 Pro models will feature a new notch-less design (with punch-hole and pill-shaped camera cutouts), an upgraded 48MP camera, and a faster A16 processor .
Current rumors suggest that the iPhone 14 Pro models may have a higher starting price than the iPhone 13 Pro models, increasing the average selling price of iPhones in 2022.
